Overview
The Bronx Chamber of Commerce is seeking an intern who is studying marketing, communications, or a related discipline to work with Chamber staff on a brand identity development project that will enhance Chamber communications to the benefit of our members and the Bronx business community as a whole. The internship will offer exposure to brand development and digital asset creation. The Chamber sits at the cross-section of the for-profit, non-profit and government sectors, and thus offers a rich and varied set of experiences.
 
Internship Project Outline
 
Brand Identity Cohesion
Work with Communications staff to:

  • Develop a comprehensive brand manual with guidelines for standardized creation of digital and printed content, with emphasis on (but not limited to): acceptable fonts, brand colors, logo package [visual elements], alongside brand voice and tone.
  • Create branded templates for social media, one-pager, booklet, and other digital and printed collateral materials in Canva for team use
  • Create drafts of digital assets for routine posting
  • Organize asset libraries
  • Identify opportunities for, and facilitate creation of, necessary new assets (photos, sizzle reels, vignette videos, et al.) to build brand identity and relay key messaging
 
Chamber Goals:
  • Enhance Chamber’s visual brand alongside brand voice, ensuring consistency and elevated brand trust
  • Increase new member engagement
  • Raise awareness of:
    • Chamber member benefits
    • Chamber Advocacy work
  • Increase event attendance

  • Increase the work readiness skills of participants and prepare them for the fast pace of the New York City workforce
  • Provide an opportunity to learn the Bronx business community landscape
  • Expose participants to various projects opportunities to help them acquire good work habits and develop employment-related skills
  • Facilitate long-term employability and self-sufficiency
  • Enable participants to develop a greater understanding of career options available to them
  • Build self-confidence and provide career awareness, project management, and interpersonal competencies needed for long term success.
Qualifications - Special Skills - Areas of Interest for Prospective Interns
  • Software skills including Microsoft Office, Google Suite, Canva, Adobe
  • Strong organizational skills and ability to manage projects on a tight timeline
  • Ability to multitask and maintain attention to detail
  • Ability to work independently as well as a part of a team
  • Comfort working in a fast-paced, dynamic environment
  • Rising Seniors preferred, will also consider qualified Juniors
Working Together
  • Time commitment: 10-15 hours weekly (estimated)
  • Duration: 1 semester (minimum)
  • Setting: on-site in the Bronx Chamber offices, with potential for limited remote work at supervisor’s discretion
 
Compensation options
Course credit; stipend via school internship program, if available
